The Kenya Peacebuilding Architecture Review, launched in March 2023, was aimed at creating an inclusive and resilient National Agenda for Peace. The UN Futures Lab/Global Hub in collaboration with the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in Kenya and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), diverse stakeholders—including government, civil society, youth, and religious leaders—were engaged to assess past successes, address evolving challenges, and envision Kenya’s long-term peacebuilding strategy. The Three Horizons foresight framework was used to identify key priorities such as food security, accountable governance, environmental preservation, and inclusive education.
This initiative highlights the critical role of inclusive, forward-thinking approaches in fostering sustainable peacebuilding. By engaging a diverse range of stakeholders and leveraging strategic foresight tools, the process not only built foresight capacity but also ensured diverse voices contributed to a shared vision, resulting in a resilient, forward-looking framework for peace. This collaborative effort equips Kenya to implement sustainable solutions that promote long-term stability and prosperity.
